We just came across this sweet opportunity to remix a dope downtempo track by Symbion Project. The contest starts today and ends on December 15th, 2016. Seattle-based songwriter/producer Symbion Project (a.k.a. Kasson Crooker) has been creating eclectic electronic music for the past two decades, ranging from cinematic downtempo to IDM/techno to classical synthesizer music. In addition to founding synthpop legends Freezepop, Kasson is a videogame composer with music featured in interactive music games like Amplitude and RockBand, and is currently scoring the indie-game Shard.

Download the stems here! We're big fans of MasterWriter, a cloud-based app that can be accessed from any desktop, tablet or smart phone. It's a suite of writing tools for songwriters, emcees, & creative writers. It's super easy to use and has a lot of features that can help anybody suffering from writer's block. The Samchillian is a project by Leon Greenbaum. Its a keyboard MIDI controller based on relativity. All keys are relative notes which means less, keys, but the ability to play in key with mind-blowing speed. It uses a wireless connection with a modular design that can easily be customized. Progressive NY artist, Gruenbaum, uses the Samchillian on his new EP which can be purchased from Agenda Del Mondo Records via Bandcamp. We recently had a chance to listen to it and it as beautiful sounding as it is evil. We highly recommend you checking it out if you're into experimental music. One of our staff writers, Headsnack, has been featured on American Music Supply's "Catch a Break" series! In this interview he breaks down why he uses Adam Audio monitors & the Moog Sub 37 Tribute on his tracks. You can also read some of Headsnack's tech gear buyer's guides right here! Today we got to see Roland's new product line that they announced on #909 Day! Featuring collector's edition 909 turntables, System 500 Modular synth, DJ-808, TD50-KV drum kit, Aerophone AE-10, Boss pedals, VP-03, TR-09, & TB-03.
Interesting news is that the DJ-808 is an official Serato controller that ships with Serato DJ. Pioneer is no longer paired up with Serato in favor of their proprietary software, Rekordbox, which is sure to give Roland a running start in the DJ space. It features a 4-channel mixer, built-in drum sequencing, vocal processing, and AIRA Link ports which allow you to connect compatible synths via USB. Going way beyond a typical DJ controller, the DJ-808 is an instrument, with a Roland “TR-S” drum machine that contains the world’s most iconic drum sounds and can even control the Serato Sampler within Serato DJ. The VT Voice Transformer can pitch your voice to match the key of your Serato DJ tracks. This is sure to push the boundaries of what you're capable of within a DJ set. In this video we take a quick look at the gorgeous touch-screen interface on Allen & Heath's dLive. This digital console is taking the world by storm. This short video shows how the i/o is completely customizable. More videos to come. Pizza Hut just jumped on the bluetooth bandwagon with a special pizza box that allows you to DJ. This gimmick looks like a lot of fun but is only available in 5 locations in the UK. We bet this type of added value will be seen a lot in the future. The only downside is that its Pizza Hut. We recommend you drop the bass instead of dropping their excuse for edible food in your mouth. We love the H910 and until the end of the month you can pick it up for only $99 from Eventide. Here it is showcased in a beat made by Headsnack. Thickening up the keyboard adds subtle harmonics and allows it to sit nicely in the mix. Mogees analyzes vibrations you create from everyday objects and turns it into music. The more distinct the hits are, the better the software works. Use your imagination and assign the different sounds within the software to whatever sounds you desire. |
